Turns out, body painting is not OK except under certain circumstances.
"People have to have an adult permit and it has to be part of an event or contest," Horry County spokeswoman Lisa Bourcier said this afternoon.
She said the county discusses this with local business owners so they know the parameters, which include women having to wear "pasties" to cover certain body parts, but sometimes the rules can be difficult to enforce if no one calls the police and there are no officers on site.
The issue seems to have arisen after pictures were published online of Nathan West painting Heather Kimball before one of her beer-vending shifts at SBB 4 Corners. SBB does have an adult license, but "They can't have beer-tub girls getting painted just to sell more beer," Bourcier said.
